“Despite Latinos’ best efforts to explain the true story behind Cinco de Mayo, it seems nothing will stop fraternities and the general American public from turning the holiday into an excuse to get turnt up. But we refuse to surrender!“
When I was younger I really didn’t think much of May 5th, it was just another day. Then as an adult, I realized it was one of the designated party days. It was really reinforced, when I worked at a Mexican restaurant & cantina. Thankfully, I had been working there for several months before the big drinking holiday! To say it was a crazy night is an understatement. Nowadays, Cinco de Mayo is even more significant to me, since my son was born on May the Fifth, 2004. So grab a shot of tequila, and toast to the fact that a small group of Mexicans overtook the French army in 1862!
